i played on bodog a while ago for a little bit and cashed out no problem i believe the check came in about 2 weeks but i t was a while ago. Alot of ppl dont like verifying there credentials to cash out and they make you send copy of front and back of credit card which was a first for me but other than that it seemed pretty good.

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) was passed in September 2006, but the “compliance date” was pushed back many many many times. It was pushed back for the final time to June 1, 2010.

This act makes it illegal to transfer money from a US bank to any internet gambling site. Since June 1, getting money onto the internet sites has been a bit of hit and miss (I only know about the poker sites, I don’t know much about the casino sites). Credit cards are not working very well, but I believe ACH (bank transfers) have been somewhat successful.

Personally, I would NOT try to do a bank transfer. I think you open yourself up to all types of legal hassles, including (possibly) getting your accounts frozen.

If I wanted to get money on the site, I would try to contact a friend who has money on the site and ask to do a player to player transfer. You can also check twoplustwo.com to see if someone can do a transfer with you for PayPal or something. I would not try to deposit directly on the poker sites for a few weeks until you can see how the government is reacting to the UIGEA compliance day.

Last year there was a legislation passed by congress that doesn’t explicitly prohibit playing poker for money online, but puts more roadblocks to make it difficult to play. Most banks won’t allow you to directly deposit funds into a gaming site, but there are still a few ones that use a third party services to fund your account. Two of the biggest name in the online industry has been reported to have been discussing merging. Bwin – an online betting company located in Austria and PartyGaming which is a giant in the online poker industry – have the hottest buzz in the news at present thanks to the sources as reported by The Times and Sunday Times.

High officials of the betting company said that they wanted to acquire a part in sector consolidation but they have been talking to a lot of people in the online gaming industry each day. However, they also said that they are not having a deal with PartyGaming.

I have placed some bets on the william hill website after starting a new account……….I have just received an email saying I need to verify my age, will the account be made unavailable to me if I do not do so and will I not win my money or be able to collect it? You have a few things going on here:
1) it appears like you are asking this question from the USA.
Online gambling is illegal in the USA, so you are conspiring with William Hill to violate US laws.
( not only are you liable for taxes on your winnings, but actually placing the bet is a crime)

2) William Hill’s website makes it very clear that they require proof of age and identity. They can, at any time ask again for proof, engage a 3rd party to verify your age and ID, and put any suspicious account on hold – or cancel it. Yes – this means they can take your money, or turn it over to the government for disposition.
